Season 2 - Episode 2
Roots & Revitalization
Greektown & Park Heights: Music, food and a strong Greek cultural presence have defined Baltimore's Greektown neighborhood since the 1930s. Although it has maintained a strong Greek population, the face of Greektown is changing to reflect a variety of other ethnicities and cultures. This influx, as well as the presence of nearby Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, challenges the community to maintain its cultural heritage while opening its doors to inevitable change. Best known as the home of Pimlico Race track, Park Heights has struggled with a deteriorating housing stock and economic uncertainty. However, its recent plans for a community renaissance have residents hopeful that a revitalized Park Heights will improve their lives and their children will face a brighter future in this community.
